Rowan’s roots are in El Paso, Texas—the borderlands where Mexican and American healing traditions blend. She was blessed as a curandera at 18 and carries that West Texas desert medicine into her Houston practice.
There’s something about being a border curandera that shapes how Rowan works. The understanding that healing happens in the spaces between—between cultures, between traditions, between the medical system and something older. Houston, with its incredible diversity, feels like the right place for this work.

Birth Team Affiliations
Rowan provides birth team support through her affiliations with Knox Birth Center and Full Circle Family. If you’re delivering at one of these Houston-area birth centers, Rowan may be part of your care team.
For clients who want Rowan’s support but are delivering elsewhere (hospital, home, or another birth center), the “Everything But The Birth” model provides comprehensive care throughout pregnancy and postpartum while you use your chosen provider for delivery.
Texas Licensing
Rowan is licensed to practice in Texas as a Licensed Midwife (LM) and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). She’s also a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through NARM.
Texas has a strong tradition of midwifery care, and Houston is home to multiple birth centers and a thriving community of midwives and birth workers. Rowan is proud to be part of this community.
Teaching in Houston
Beyond her clinical practice, Rowan teaches through the Labor Whispering Academy™ at the Institute of Massage & Health Education. If you’re a massage therapist interested in reproductive bodywork—prenatal, postpartum, fertility, or loss massage—this is where to learn.
